Empowered Family Services:
Practice Closure

Dear valued clients of Empowered Family Services,

First, I want to thank you for trusting us with your mental health care for the past two years. It has been an incredible journey to walk alongside each of you as you embark on healing and working on your mental health. Many practices don’t make it past the first six months, and seeing Empowered Family Services grow is absolutely due to the trust you have put in us to walk alongside you. We are truly honored to have seen you, your children, and your families grow and change.

This has been a year of significant personal and economic changes for myself (Bethany). Due to these circumstances, I have had to make the difficult decision to close Empowered Family Services. I will be transitioning into a new role which will allow me to continue putting time with my family as a priority while adjusting to personal circumstances. This announcement is to provide you with proper notice that Empowered Family Services will be no longer providing mental health services effective February 28, 2025.

What does this mean for your mental health care?

All sessions will continue as normal through January 31, 2025. During this time, your counselor will discuss the transition with you and make recommendations for your treatment moving forward, including giving you personalized recommendations for counselors that might be a good fit to continue care. Beginning February 3, 2025 all sessions will switch to virtual sessions for the final month of care.

Bethany Walker will no longer be seeing any clients after February 28, 2025. Marla Scott will continue seeing clients in her own independent virtual practice. Of course, if you would like to transition to another therapist before that time we are happy to assist you and send any relevant referrals or records.

What does this mean for your records?

Based on Texas law, all records will be kept for the required 7 years, or 5 years past a child turning the age of 18 (whichever is the longer period of time). If you would like to have your records sent to any care providers or others in the future, please contact Bethany Walker at contactbwalker@gmail.com and those records will be sent via email or fax within 10 business days.

How can you contact us moving forward?

The current phone and email address will continue to be in place through February 28, 2025. At that time, they will no longer be in service. Past this date, you can contact your counselor at the information below:

All of this will be discussed with you in your next counseling sessions to help determine the best course of care moving forward. I recognize that this is a difficult transition and we have built trust and relationships in our time together. All of us at Empowered Family Services will do our best to ensure you continue to experience that trust and relationship during this time of change.

Sincerely,

Bethany Walker, LCSW
