Marla Scott

Child & Family Therapist

TX LPC License #18535

Marla Scott has been a licensed professional counselor for over 20 years. She has worked for Heartlight Ministries with teens and their families, as well as with adults and groups at ETMC Behavioral Health. She has also worked with young children at Buckner Children and Family Services. Marla has a heart to help and an ear to listen to the unique story that each client brings to therapy.

Marla believes that each person has dignity and the ability to be the very best. Sometimes that “best” becomes clouded with the harshness of the circumstances of life. Providing a safe place for truth and transparency allows for healing to take place. While Marla uses a variety of approaches, depending on the client, she favors the ability of the therapeutic relationship to do much good. She hopes when each person walks through the doors of Empowered Family Services, they will truly own the ability to be their very best self and be a living example to others of how to do so.

Marla has been married since March 2003 to David Scott, who is her favorite person and best friend. They have eight children from ages 2-19. They stay very busy with family activities, church, taekwondo, and scouting. In her free time, Marla enjoys working out and reading.
